Meet the experts of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

David Gordon - Desarrollador de la PNL

David Gordon

David Gordon is one of the original developers of the NLP. He was present in the group in which he collaborated with Richard Bandler, Leslie Cameron, Judith De Lozier, Robert Dilts, Stephen Gilligan, etc.

David has collaborated over more than 25 five years to the development of the NLP field, especially in the metaphor areas of change and modeling. Modeling is his passion and he has devoted himself to it for more than ten years in a professional way. During that time, David Gordon developed different formats to elicit with success the fascinating structures given by the great variety of human experiences.

During the last 25 years, David has trained hundredths of people in NLP, hypnosis, and therapeutic metaphors, modeling and in specific application of these areas.

David Gordon has written many articles about NLP and four books:

  • Therapeutic Metaphors, Phoenix: The Therapeutic Techniques of Milton H. Erickson, The NLP Home Study Guide, Know How (with Leslie Cameron-Bandler and Michael Lebeau).

At the moment, he is writing two books: One with Bob Smith and the other with Graham Dawes, both about the retention of employees in companies.

During the last five years, David Gordon has been collaborating with Bob Smith, giving executive coaching for The Gap and Pepsi, etc.

Stephen Gilligan - Creador de Self Relations Psychotherapy

Stephen Gilligan

Creator of the Self-Relations Psychotherapy

Stephen Gilligan, Ph.D., is a certified physiologist that has his practice in California, USA. Stephen was among the original group of students that got together with the founders of the NLP, while he was studying in the University of California, Santa Cruz, from 1974 to 1977. Milton Erickson and Gregory Bateson were also Stephen’s teachers.

After receiving his doctorate in psychology at Stanford University, Stephen turned into one of the main professors and practitioners of the Ericksonian Hypnosis.

Motivated by his experiences as a therapist, professor, and by his own research, Stephen developed a new practice of radical awakening incorporating the Ericksonian Hypnosis, Aikido, Buddhism, meditation, and the Performance arts.

His work, Self-Relations Psychotherapy, focuses on reconnecting the mind/body processes and supports the radical changes. Understandings and the processes of responsibility constitute the foundation of “Self-relations Psychotherapy”.

The great acceptance of his ideas of Responsibility and auto-Responsibility as steps to therapy and personal change, joined with Stephen’s transformational presence, have taken him to conference tours, workshops, and many groups of Responsibility in North America and Europe, where Stephen supervises and inspires people.

Stephen is an author of many professional articles, and his books include:

  • Therapeutic Trances, The Cooperation Principle in Ericksonian Psychotherapy, Brief Therapy, Therapeutic Conversations, The Legacy of Milton Erickson, The Courage to Love, Principles and Practices of Self relations Psychotherapy.

Richard Bandler - Co creador de la PNL

Richard Bandler

Co-creator of the Neuro-Linguistic Programming

He was born in New Jersey, USA, in February 1950. He has worked in North California most part of his life. He is a co-creator of the Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) in collaboration with J. Grinder developer of this technology and creator of Human Design Engineering ™ (DHE™).

He was first interested in Physics, programming of computer systems, and mathematics; in the end, he entered the lands of psychology and philosophy.

Bandler found the Gestalt psychology of Fritz Perls very interesting. Bandler was in charge of analyzing and cataloging the videos of Perls in action. Bandler detected patterns in the way of acting of Perls and became a master in acting the same way, which gave him the abilities to create great things in his group Gestalt therapy.

After a debate with the Professor of psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), he got an opportunity to form a group and teach them Gestalt therapy. He could do that, as long as a professor supervised him. The professor that agreed to supervise this 22-year-old young man was John Grinder. John was amazed of the results that Bandler obtained and proposed to help him determine exactly what he was doing (linguistic patterns) in exchange of Bandler teaching him how to do it.

For many months, Grinder devoted himself to study Bandler, while he was making friendships, learning with Satir, Bateson and many others that were low profile by that time. After a while, they started the mirror groups where Grinder would experiment with the linguistic patterns that they were obtaining.

Because of his relationship with Robert Spitzer, Bandler met Virginia Satir, authority in family therapy and the one that modeled her abilities of managing and solving very serious problems in families. This happened during a party, when Richard offered to give a ride to Virginia to a psychiatric hospital. Bandler started a friendship with Gregory Bateson -British anthropologist expert in communication and the systems theory-, who lived in the house across the street and very often they would get together and drink whisky, smoke and play chess. It was Bateson who got Bandler and Milton Erickson together, from whom Bandler modeled the abilities.

Richard Bandler studied the performance of very successful people in their action field, creating equations that shape a model of specific patterns that are for everybody. These models are based in the minimum common denominator between different individuals that had the same ability, meaning the minimum number of elements or variables to obtain the same outcome. Bandler went farther than that; his efforts were focused in creating a mathematical model of human behavior.
